Post Surgery Rehab Hikes

These are short, easy hikes I did to work back up to hiking after total hip replacement surgery and only after I had gradually worked up to 2 miles of residential walking, first with a cane, then without.  After any type of surgery, clear with your doctor/physical therapist before starting this type of exercise! 
 
2.6 mile loop
Packed sand/pine needle woods roads and paved roads with slight elevation changes.
2 miles out and back (1 mile each way)
Flat gravel road.

2.7 mile out and back with loops at either end
Flat packed sand/pine needle woods road, crushed stone rail trail, paved park path.

1.5 mile blazed nature trail with several other unmarked trails
Wide packed sand trails, mostly flat with occasional slight elevation changes.

1.5 mile lollipop
Wide loose gravel road-type trail.

2.8 mile out and back (1.4 miles each way)
Smooth paver/concrete walkway with optional steps to upper level

2 miles (can be made longer)
Gravel maintenance road, mowed trails around fields, flat with occasional slight elevation change

Oak Ridge Park, NJ - Perimeter Loop
2.8 miles (can be shortened)
All paved, flat paths of a former golf course

3.5 miles
All paved except far side of loop around pond

3 miles 
All paved except the Library Trail which connects to an additional .8 mile loop

1.8 miles
Packed sand trails with a little elevation change at the farthest end of the park.

2 miles (1 mile each way)
Flat wood decking and concrete paths 

3.3 mile lollipop
Paved path with very little elevation change.

3 miles (1.5 miles each way)
Paved multi-use rail trail with moderately steep ascent and descent over Route 1.

2.5 miles (1.25 miles each way)
Flat paved multi-use rail trail.

MORE ADVANCED HIKES: 
From P6:  3.2 miles (1.6 miles each way)
From P7:  4.4 miles (2.2 miles each way)
Woods road with several hills

5.8 miles
Path ranges from smooth dirt to short stretches of large rocks/roots; good intro back into hiking with uneven footing and elevation gain.

3.4 miles
Mostly woods road with hills

3.1 miles
Mulch, dirt and sometimes broken asphalt foot paths and grassy woods roads with hills
