ABOUT THE PARK:
Cedar Bonnet Island - Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge Facebook Page
Cedar Bonnet Island Environmental Trail - South Jersey Trails  (How I found out about this hike - thanks South Jersey Trails!)

DIRECTIONS:
GPS Coordinates 39.65718, -74.19371
Room for about 10 cars in a lot right off of Route 72 after crossing over Manahawkin Bay.

TRAIL MAP:

HIKE DISTANCE:
Cedar Bonnet Island - 1.5 miles
     hiked together with
Cloverdale Farm County Park - 2 miles
     12 miles/16 minutes away

THE HIKE:
As mentioned in the Cloverdale Farm hike, pardon the poor quality iPhone pictures.  Forgot to put the memory card in my good camera.
Head west from the parking lot a short distance along the sidewalk ...
... to the entrance on the left.
The path is all loose gravel which can be somewhat uncomfortable to walk on but where everyplace else is a sloppy, slushy mess and ice and snow, this was all bone dry.
We went left at the first fork and would be returning from the right.
Staying to the left here also for an out-and-back portion to a pavilion.
Heading back.
The bridge we had driven in on in the distance.
Now to the left to complete the loop portion.
Back at the entrance ...
... and a right turn back to the parking lot.

  1. Hi Daniela -- I see you're in South Jersey again...always great to have two stars in my area (somewhat)! _Excellent_ pick of place(s)! (I see your other hike of the day at Cloverdale...more comments after I read your blog on that one!) I was at EBFNWR/Cedar Bonnet Island Environmental Trail back in June 2019; found out about this one via Mike @ South Jersey Trails -- gorgeous little park! I _love_ the views of Long Beach Island to the East, and I actually caught myself a little video of someone parasailing on Cross Channel (the body of water near CBI/ET.)

Hey -- just a quick bit of news...my wife & I picked up our very first dog on this past Saturday: An 8-week-old Papillon named Penny. She may be a little young to be hiking right now, but look out...when she gets older, I may be following in your footsteps and hiking with her periodically! (Will probably start out by taking her on my standard 1.25-mile walk I do during lunch on most days...seeing as I'll still be working from home for quite some time to come!) :)

    1. Congrats on the dog. Just be careful - you shouldn't hike them until they are a year old, something having to do with bone growth. That's one of the many reasons why I go for adults, less of a "break in" period for hiking.

  2. Wait, is south Jersey snow-free? I haven't checked snow maps. Maybe I need to.

  3. Do you have any recommendations for places with at least 6 miles of trails in south Jersey? I've been on the Batona trail, but if I remember right, its very muddy this time of year. Aiming for 6-7 mile hikes during the month of March.

    1. I'll have to think on it some more but one that comes to mind, and it is one of my favorite south Jersey hikes, is Cattus Island. Trails are flat and there is such a variety of things to see along the way. https://gonehikin.blogspot.com/2018/05/cattus-island-county-park-nj.html
