Daniela, Does the 4.25 (one way) distance you posted reflect the extra mile you went out? Or is that just the distance to Wolf Rocks - then add an extra mile (making it closer to 5.25) for the actual hike you took?
ReplyDeleteWe're planning on doing this for Saturday and wouldn't mind tacking on some extra distance w/the understanding that we have to redux whatever distance we hike to get back to our car. Thanks again for another "unsolicited" suggested hike. :)
Linda
Hey Linda!
DeleteThe 4.25 miles is just out to Wolf Rocks where the trail turns away from Wolf Rocks to the left. I went another mile from that point before turning around, like you, just to add mileage. Nothing to see out that way and the trail becomes very rocky, that is why I didn't include it as part of the hike but as an optional "bonus", if you will, for those of us who just can't get enough :) If you want an easier, more scenic way to add mileage, you can turn around at the end of Wolf Rocks and head back but keep going on the AT at Totts Gap instead of turning left back to your car. If you haven't done that section out from Mount Minsi, the AT goes through woods as a footpath then onto a woods road. I think it's just under 2 miles out to the summit of Mount Minsi and it's pretty flat along the ridge if you wanted to go that far.
Daniela
Hey there...is there a decent place to camp and a water source to your knowledge?
ReplyDeleteThere is the Kirkridge Shelter as noted above but other than that, sorry, have no idea.
