Samuel G. Fisher Mount Ivy Environmental Park - County of Rockland, NY
(Although the map says the hiking trail is 1 mile, you have to hike 1/2 of a mile on the service road, which is actually a wide mowed path, to get to it.)

Mt. Ivy County Park, NY at EveryTrail

HIKE DISTANCE:  2.4 miles
Hiked along with South Mountain County Park - 4.3 miles

THE HIKE:
The hike starts on the service road, which is a wide mowed path, where Firemens Memorial Drive ends.
All kinds of birds and flowers along this mowed path but only the flowers stood still for pictures.
At the end of the mowed path, a large clearing.  Turn left to ...
... the rail bed which is the 1-mile hiking trail.
Old railroad ties along the way.
Swamps on either side of the rail bed.
Minisceogo Golf Course on the right towards the end of the trail.
A remaining railroad tie.
The trail comes out at ...
Station Road with an American Legion Hall on the left.
Because we were pressed for time and Shawnee was getting very tired, we turned left on Station Road,
then left behind the Provident Bank Park to shortcut back to the car.
Finally some shade.  It wasn't that hot for me but in full sun it was hot for her.
The fire training center on Firemens Memorial Drive.
Back at the parking area at the end of Firemens Memorial Drive.

THE HIKE:
The Long Path runs through South Mountain County Park and starts at the parking lot entrance but we went to check out the amphitheater first which is beyond the gate.
Looks like this must be it.
Back to the parking lot entrance to get on the Long Path.
Now we are on top of the amphitheater.
Sun rising over the mountains.
A few little glimpses of views to the right before ...
...views of New York City.
At the tower you can take a service road or the Long Path.
We took the service road and looped back on the Long Path.
The service road ends at Route 33, turn left before the gate to get back on the Long Path.
This is the more rugged section of the Long Path through South Mountain County Park.
Retracing back.
I was picking up litter on the way back and went to pick this up but the cup was ice cold so I left it.  I shouldn't have.  There was nobody else in the parking lot when I got back.  Lazy #&*$^*# people :(
Back at the parking lot.
The rest of the litter I picked up.
On to Mt. Ivy County Park, a 1.5 mile drive away.
