BIKE DISTANCE:  19.9 miles

THE BIKE:
Finally a very nice day worthy of taking off work for a bike after 3 months of winter.

Heading south on the D&R Canal Trail.
This entire stretch on the New Jersey side looks pretty much the same where it's more scenic on the Pennsylvania side.  The trail surface, however, is better on the New Jersey side.
Right into Bull Island Recreation Area...
... straight through ...
... to the pedestrian bridge over the Delaware River.
Delaware River to the north.
Delaware River to the south.
There is the PA side of the trail down below.  To get there ...
... it's a right on River Road for a short distance ...
... to the bridge on the right.  The Lumberville Aqueduct Pedestrian Bridge had been closed after significant damage during Tropical Storm Ida in 2021.  I had just happened to see that repairs were complete and it had reopened just a few days earlier.
Left after the bridge to head north.
This all looks brand new.
The problem with some of the trail surface here is that there had been rain the day before which made cycling through wet sand very difficult.  I had to walk some sections because the bike just couldn't plow through what felt like quicksand.
A waterfall across River Road on the left.
A sign of Spring!
Eventually the trail surface improves but it often narrow.
I detoured to the right into Tinicum Park to have a look.
I just rode over to the far end ...
... and back.  The only thing I saw was disc golf so really no other trails to ride.
Continuing on the Delaware Canal path.
Coming up on this covered bridge there are signs to follow to the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge.
The covered bridge to the left ...
... continuing on Uhlerstown Hill Road to the right.
At the stop sign ...
... left on River Road a short distance ...
... to the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Bridge.
After crossing the bridge there is a crosswalk ...
... to cross right back to the New Jersey side of the path to head south.
It's 1 mile back to the Kingwood Boat Launch parking lot.
